HCADA coordinated Operation Medicine Cabinet on September 29th where approximately 700 pounds of unwanted medications were collected. Thanks to our partners: Sanford Brown, TPD, HCSO, DEA, Sweetbay and MOSI.

Over six people die each day in Florida from prescription drug overdoses. A new computer system, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, was created to assist doctors and other medical professionals in tracking patients’ prescriptions to help avoid drug abusers from being prescribed unneeded medications. The Florida legislature listened to your concerns and passed comprehensive prescription drug abuse legislation to help stop “doctor shopping” and shut down pill mills. See article.

On July 15, 2009 members of the Hillsborough County Prescription Drug Task Force were presented with a Certificate of Commendation by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for their dedication in working to pass the Prescription Drug Monitoring Bill legislation. Read here for more…
