On March 22, HCADA Staff and Board participated in this year’s Walk Like MADD, an annual fundraising event for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Proceeds from the event go to the local chapter of MADD who works to stop drunk driving and prevent underage drinking.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office performed a DUI checkpoint on April 18 in Tampa. These random stops involve sobriety tests of drivers in order to protect the public from alcohol related traffic accidents and protect intoxicated drivers from injury to themselves. On November 26, the Tobacco Free Partnership along with SWAT members presented a candy-flavored resolution to Plant City City Council. The resolution passed unanimously!
On October 6, SWAT volunteered during Kidfest at MOSI where they disseminated tobacco prevention educational materials and anti drug brochures to approximately 500 adults and children . Thank you SWAT for your hard work!
HCADA coordinated Operation Medicine Cabinet on September 29th where approximately 700 pounds of unwanted medications were collected. Thanks to our partners: Sanford Brown, TPD, HCSO, DEA, Sweetbay and MOSI.
SWAT held their County Wide Meeting on June 1 at the FICS Multi Cultural Family Center where a new community SWAT chapter has recently been created.
